A new clip for a Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets has dropped.
Here’s the synopsis, taken straight from Wikipedia:
In the 28th century, Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives charged with keeping order throughout the human territories. On assignment from the Minister of Defense, the two undertake a mission to Alpha, an ever-expanding metropolis where species from across the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence, and culture. At the center of Alpha is a mysterious dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.
And here’s the clip:
Basically tons and ton of VFX in the form of CGI. Every shot is pretty much green or blue-screened. lots of little details that really build the scenes and sequences.
In this clip, Valerian and Lauraline, two humans, are introduced, or are introducing us, to the City of a Thousand Worlds, and it’s many diversified habitats and inhabitants, on their way to the city where the humans and all “compatible species” live.
I’ll say this: if this film doesn’t make some serious cash, I’ll feel deeply saddened for Luc Besson, because it looks like for a change, he’s really put his heart into a project and tried to make it succeed. It just looks as if he has gone “all out” to render this graphic novel, which ran for about forty years, into a major cinematic epic, and if people snub it, I think that just bespeaks to people’s general selfishness and close-mindedness.
By all means, go watch the next iteration of Transformers or Spider-man instead. Lunkheads.
