So the Han Solo movie is mired down in a mid-production mess. The idiots that be over at Lucasfilm hired Phil Lord and Chris Miller to make a Han Solo movie, but the duo has done nothing but comedies and or comedic material. No one told them they were making a serious film, apparently. So they started making a comedy. And none of the cast saw through this immediately? Wow. Just wow.

No now they’ve hired Ron Howard to finish. Howard was never my first choice, and it’s going to be weird to see his name on a Star Wars film. I wonder if he’ll leave, too, and how much of the film was shot before Lord and Miller hit the door? What a mess.

So now Ron Howard himself has tweeted, in response to the fiasco:

I hope to honor the great work already done & help deliver on the promise of a Han Solo film.

Well, what else could he say? He’s inherited a mess and a moron cast who didn’t know they were in a comedy? Not much to say but what he did. So it’ll very amusing and entertaining going forward just to see how this all shapes up and whether or not Howard can save the production and give birth to a proper film that reflects Kasdan’s and Kennedy’s vision, because if not, whoo hoo, yeah, what a hot mess.

A of now, the film is still set for a May 25, 2018 release date with Alden Ehrenreich taking on the role as the young Han Solo,  Woody Harrelson as his mentor, Donald Glover as a young Lando Calrissian, Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca. The cast also brings  Game of Thronesstar Emilia Clarke, Westworld star Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Michael K. Williams and Ian Kenny.
