Looks like J.J. Abrams’ next movie, entitled Overlord, will be released October 26th, 2018, a few days before Halloween, even though it’s a supernatural-themed movie and not a horror one, which means compared to other outings around that time, it might not be such a huge hit as Abrams home, unless of course it’s actually another film set in the Cloverfield universe. A prequel, perhaps?

Here’s the official synopsis:

On the eve of D-Day, American paratroopers are dropped behind enemy lines to carry out a mission crucial to the invasion’s success. But as they approach their target, they begin to realize there is more going on in this Nazi-occupied village than a simple military operation. They find themselves fighting against supernatural forces, part of a Nazi experiment.

And casting:

Starring Jovan Adepo (The LeftoversFences) and Wyatt Russell (22 Jump StreetCowboys & Aliens) with Jacob Anderson (Game of Thrones), Pilou Asbæk (Game ofThrones), Dominic Applewhite (The King’sSpeech), Iain de Caestecker (Agents ofS.H.I.E.L.D.), John Magaro (Carol), Mathilde Ollivier (The Misfortunes of Francois Jane) and Bokeem Woodbine (Fargo).

My take: sounds like a lot of other films that build on the purported supernatural activities of the Nazis, which is an overblown affair in my opinion, given that much of the so-called Nazi supernatural bent is bunk. Films that come to mind: Indian Jones and the Last Crusade, Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Ark, Hell Boy, and some of the Captain America films, such as The Winter Soldier.
