Carl Reiner, veteran of the last three Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s films, will appear in a cameo role for the upcoming all-female reboot of sorts of Ocean’s Eleven. Reiner isn’t the only cameo planned for the film. Matt Damon is also expected to play a small part in Ocean’s Eight, and had this to say abut his as of yet undisclosed small role:
Yeah, Ocean’s Eight, I think they’re calling it. And I got to work with my favorite actress, Sandra Bullock. I did one little scene with her, and it was such a pleasure. She’s a work of nature.
The cast for Ocean’s Eight will feature an all-star roster of actresses, including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Awkwafina, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Katie Holmes, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling and Sarah Paulson. Among the male cast members confirmed for the film is Matt Damon, a hold-over from the original Ocean’s trilogy, along with Richard Armitage, Damien Lewis and James Corden.
My take: Could be decent, I guess, and Bullock is fun to watch, but do we need a another movie where women desperately prove they’re not inferior to men? If they weren’t in some ways inferior, they wouldn’t have to constantly prove otherwise. That’s not sexist, that’s just biological fact. Deal with it, metrosexuals.
