I’ve seen but one of the new Planet of the Apes movies. I saw the first one in theaters I think, and wasn’t all that impressed. I came way wondering at the contrived nature of the disease that led to mankind’s near extinction and the rise of the less evolved simians, like apes and whatnot. I wondered how an Alzheimer;s drug could both kill most of mankind and also at the same time, evolve hominids. I didn’t get it but no one else seemed to care. And then it seems only apes were the ones to get evolved, but not other simians, which made little sense to me. At the very least the drug should have had some kind of effect on chimps and bonobos, and et ecetera, but as far as I can tell, it didn’t. James Franco’s role didn’t help, either.

I never saw the second one, directed by Matt Reeves, as I was simply tired of the narrative and the story long before he took over for Rupert Wyatt after the first one.

Now the third is out and it looks much more emotional than the second or third one, even though the first flick revolved around Franco’s bizarre attempts to save┬áJohn Lithgow’s life. Lithgow played Franco’s father, which resonated with me on a personal level.

Having said all that, because there was nothing else for me to say, here’s the latest cli for War For the Planet of the Apes, ‘I came for you’:
