Looks like Jessica Chastain, yes that Jessica Chastain, is in talks to play a villain in Simon Kinberg’s upcoming Dark Pheonix X-Men film, from FOX, of course. Kinberg, who co-wrote “X-Men: The Last Stand” – the franchise’s first attempt at the Dark Phoenix saga — was reported several months ago to be in talks to not only write the “Apocalypse” sequel but to direct the film as well.
Earlier it was reported that Angelina Jolie was being eyed for the role, until the Internet lit up in derision
The film will focus on Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey as it features the story of the Dark Phoenix saga from the X-Men comics. The Phoenix, in the form of Jean, appeared as the primary antagonist in “X-Men: The Last Stand.” She was portrayed in the film by actress Famke Jansen.
Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Alexandra Shipp, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee are all reprising their roles when production begins in Montreal.
My take: she’s a great actress and well-endowed enough to play the role. By well-endowed, I am referring to her talents, not anything else. Get your mind out of the gutter. In any case, she might be a bit too fair-skinned to play Dark Phoenix, but the crew can easily handle that in art direction or post-production.
