Finally we have an image of the captain from the other ship that appears in CBS’s all-access streaming service television show Star Trek Discovery. And that image is of….Jason Isaacs as Captain Lorca.

Check it out below:

And then there’s a quote I stole from Screenrant, which sums up the show pretty deftly:

There are a number of ways that Star Trek: Discovery is different from all previous Star Trek shows. It is the first one with a gay character in the main cast – Anthony Rapp’s Science Officer Stamets. It’s the first series where the main character is not the Captain – it’s First Officer Michael Burnham. It is the first of the series where the lead is an African-American woman – Sonequa Martin-Green. And it is the first Star Trek series that appears to be about two ships and two Captains. Commander Burnham serves as the First Officer of the U.S.S. Shenzhou, captained by Michelle Yeoh’s Captain Philippa Georgiou. And of course, the U.S.S. Discovery, lead by Jason Isaacs’ Captain Gabriel Lorca.

So yeah, a gay character, finally. Wonder how that’ll play out. Making movies on Captain Lorca? How will we know he’s gay unless he does gay things? Does he wear a rainbow-colored outfit? Speak with a lisp? Glide, not walk, towards the turbolift?

Man, is this going to suck or what?
