No more Michael Bay after The Last Knight, or so I’ve read. No more Bayhem. No more back to back explosions for the sake of explosions. Someone else will be taking over the directorial chair from Michael bay, and a new era will be born. Out of that new era comes news of a new (new, new new!) Bumblebbe movie, which will be set in the 1980s, somehow. No indication of how this will take place, I guess, as Bumblebee was seen in the first film as touching down with his comrades and taking on the form of a Chevrolette vehicle. How Bumblebee will romp around in the 1980s and what form he will take is unknown at this time.
What is known is that Hailee Steinfeld (of True Grit, Pitch Perfect 2 and The Edge of Seventeen fame) will serve as a young mechanic character, who it is assumed will become the driver for Bumblebee. Will he talk is another good question as I don’t think Bumblebee has ever talked in any of the movies, not that I recall anyway. Another important fact is that the script, written by Christina Hodson, will feature the lowest number of Transformers of any live-action Transformers film ever, and possibly only one, namely Bumblebee himself. The idea is to steer the film towards a younger demographic than the Bay-directed outings.
A Bay-like Transformer movie for kids. How could it be any less brainless than it is now?
