How do they do it? How does Screenrant and other movie news outlets write so much about so little. I have no idea. Honestly, no clue.
So. Bumblebee will start filming in a few months. That’s about two. They must already have a script, then, or do they just film the explosions, and create dialogue filler for glue?
In Screenrant’s exclusive interview with Transformers: The Last Knight producer Di Bonaventura, the premiere blockbuster filmmaker told them that filming on Bumblebee will begin this August, followed by an expected theatrical release later next summer. Exclusive:
“Well we’re going to shoot a prequel actually, a Bumblebee movie, which starts in August, so next summer we’ll see a Bumblebee movie. And then we hope to have another Transformers movie the following summer.“
“Look, I always wait for the audience, because there’s an arrogance to getting ahead of your audience. When you do, you get punched. So we’ll wait each time. We’re planning a lot of movies, but you’ve got to have the audience’s support, because these movies are very expensive.“
Die Bonaventura also had this to say, previously, regarding the relationship between the driver/mechanic character and Bumblebee:
I don’t want to give away too much about it but we’re making a very distinctly different type of Transformers movie. It’s a more intimate movie. It’s a little bit like Iron Giant which I worked on many years ago. It’s a smaller story but it’s still about these larger issues, the same sort of titanic clashes occur. But it’s a female lead, the relationship she and Bumblebee develop is very different than what we’ve seen before. And so I think people are going to love the intimacy of that movie in contrast to some of the big ‘wham bam thank you mam’ you know?
Set in the 1980s, and looking to do for Transformers what Han Solo is doing for Star Wars, well there is just no comparison between the two, and I like Transformers. But I bet Bumblebee will have some cute scenes, because you know, girl mechanic, probably her first car, maybe her first date car….I’m just thinking how this could shape up. It’s already been compared to Iron Giant and I’ve already said that a) boy/girl meets robot is pretty generic and b) aping Iron Giant isn’t very original, nor do I doubt could they do the comparison any justice. We’ll just have to see, but I’ll be damned if I write more about this movie when so little is known about it yet.
