Nicolas Meyer has now confirmed he is  actively working on a new Star Trek project, which isn’t Star Trek: Discovery, either, or Star Trek 4. So what is it? Nicholas Meyer directed directed both Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, and co-wrote Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, which are three of the better Star Trek films out there. Could it be another film, but set in the Prime universe instead of the Kelvin one?

Speaking with Trek Movie  about Discovery, Meyer revealed that “One thing that has nothing to do with Discovery is that I am working on another Star Trek project, but I can’t discuss that either.” The filmmaker thereafter teased that “You can assume” that Discovery is the only Star Trek TV show in development at the moment and thus, that his mystery project must be a feature-length Star Trek film instead.

My take: it could be something else altogether, like a Park ride, or book, or an animated mini-series. We don’t now for sure that’s even a film, or if it is, which universe it appears in. Would it be great if they made a TV series set after Voyager? Yes. Or a film? Yes, too. But at this point we have nothing about which to speculate other than that Meyer has his hands full.
